Anthro: USA 4

December 2, 2013 · by Catherine · in (Fair) Fashion & Beauty

This is the fourth part of my series featuring Anthropologie’s American-made brands.  To fit my criteria, the brand must have at least five American-made pieces currently for sale at Anthropologie.  You can see the first three installments here, here, and here.

Paige Denim:  A great line of stylish jeans in very flattering shapes and styles.  I recently bought a pair of the Jimmy Jimmy Skinny Boyfriend Jeans and could not be happier with them.  The reviews are excellent, and I definitely recommend these jeans, too.  The Jimmy Jimmy Jeans are featured above.

Puella:  A lovely line of comfortable day dresses in classic styles and shapes.  The Savant Swing Dress is perfect for winter.

Resultwear by D-Mondaine:  This line technically doesn’t meet my specifications, but only because it has four pieces in its collection.  Still, American-made shapewear is hard to find, and these pieces are both basic and beautiful.  The Solid Shapewear One-Piece is perfect for your holiday party dresses.

Sundry:  A line of casual lounge pieces with an elegant twist.  The Romi Loungers are pretty enough to wear out and about on a lazy Saturday.

I hope you are enjoying this series, and as always, feel free to offer comments and suggestions.  I hope you’ll consider these brands if you take advantage of the current holiday sales.  Also, next week is the last part of the series and I’m considering examining other stores, too.  I’d love to hear your ideas for future posts.

We are hosting Thanksgiving at our house tomorrow, so I’m cutting my blogging week short.  My parents are watching the boys and will bring them back tomorrow morning, and we’ll enjoy a lovely day with family and friends.  There’s so much to be thankful for this year, and I wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving, too.  Here are a few things that caught my eye this week.

Gorgeous photographs of snowflakes.  I didn’t know they could look like this!

Old photographs from San Antonio’s Big Snow of 1985.  I was six and so excited!

A strange lawsuit involving the University of Texas, Ryan O’Neal, and an Andy Warhol painting of Farrah Fawcett.

Rest in peace, Brian the Dog.  Sniff, sniff.

Lorde on her sudden rise to fame at such a young age.

The most hilarious music video parody I’ve seen all year.  (Not appropriate for work or children, Kanye.)

An interview with Harry Dean Stanton.

An instructional video on dealing with holiday harassment from those closest to you.

And, because I couldn’t resist, my favorite Thanksgiving photo.  Eat your heart out!

Have a fabulous holiday and enjoy your long weekend!

Brocade and Black

Walking with Cake: Brocade & Black

(Mixing up my uniform with brocade pants.)

I live in jeans during the fall and winter, but sometimes it’s nice to mix things up a little.  I’ve had my eye on these Brocade Charlie Trousers in Green for months, but I wasn’t certain I could pull off the look.  I’ve shied away from colored and printed jeans in the past in favor of darker washes.  But I fell in love with these trousers, and when they went on sale, I decided to try them.

I was truly surprised at both their fit and how slimming they are, and since they are mostly cotton, I can wear the pants through the spring.  The pattern is classic, but also sort of 1960s-inspired, and the brocade reminds me of wallpaper.  It’s a fun look and I’m so thrilled that I took a risk and moved outside my comfort zone a little bit.

To balance the busyness of the trousers, I paired them with a basic black tee and my new Arced Crest Cardigan by Bailey 44, a brand I featured in my first Anthro: USA post.  The cardigan is soft and flattering, and it nips in slightly at the waist.  I especially love the braiding at the sides, and it reminds me a little of something Catelyn Stark might wear.  I’ve had a trusty black cardigan for several years that is beginning to wear out, and this sweater, made in the United States, is the perfect replacement.

And, just for fun, here’s a picture of me cracking up during this photo shoot.  Ryan was encouraging me to open my eyes wider, and he did his best imitation of “doe eyes.”  I couldn’t contain my laughter.

I look pretty silly in that picture, but I still really like those trousers!
