ROCO Magazine

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

–“When You are Old” by William Butler Yeats

I discovered ROCO Magazine last year, and immediately fell in love with its beautiful photographs and quiet country vignettes inspired by Ireland, the home of its publishers.  The magazine is a free online publication, released quarterly, and is dedicated to showcasing interior design and lifestyle products from around the world.

When I visited Ireland on my honeymoon ten years ago, I was struck by the loveliness of the country, of course.  But I also became enchanted with the little details found on the outside of ordinary homes, like brightly painted shutters, neatly tended boxes flowering by the doors, and lace curtains peeking through the windows.

That’s just what I could see from the street, and now ROCO Magazine offers a glimpse inside these gorgeous homes.  The quiet beauty of the magazine is apparent from the cover, and I especially love the attention to detail you’ll find in each issue.  There’s even an “Interior Meets Fashion” feature that is particularly stunning and inspiring, combining new fashion designs with similar interior designs.

My favorite styling mixes the old and new: well-worn, treasured pieces paired with modern details that add a bit of whimsy or interest to a room.

I encourage you to visit ROCO Magazine and its equally charming blog.  I know you will fall in love!
