Falling For It
After reading this post on Wardrobe Oxygen, I decided to jump on the jeggings bandwagon! I never thought I’d write that on my blog, and they shall henceforth be known as denim leggings, but whatever you want to call them, I think this look will become a fall staple of mine. I must disclose that this photograph is entirely staged and was taken while the boys were napping on a very hot Sunday afternoon recently. Ryan and I were trying out our new camera and tripod, so I appear a bit hesitant while waiting to see if the timer would work. Immediately afterward, I changed back into comfy shorts and a tee, but I am excited to wear this outfit in the coming months. Like November and December.
I am incredibly impressed with these denim leggings, which are the same brand and style that Alison wears in her post. Made by Karen Kane, the leggings feature a wide elastic band at the waist that really helps to smooth everything out and avoid that “muffin-top” look so common among mothers. I am truly pear-shaped and am smaller through my shoulders and torso than my hips, so I balanced the fitted leggings with a loose top, bought from Anthropologie several years ago, a very old Banana Republic shrug, and two charm necklaces also purchased at Anthropologie in years past. My shoes were a fun find from Ross, but I’m planning to update the look with boots once the weather turns cool, whenever that might be.
I’m excited to try this new look and I can’t believe I waited this long to buy a pair of jeggings denim leggings! Have you tried anything new or different lately?
They’re really cute! I agree that the name jeggings is a bit much, though — now they have treggings, which are apparently trouser leggings.
I really like the shrug layered over the longer shirt, too!
Haha, I haven’t heard of treggings! And thank you for the compliment. 🙂
These jeggings are adorbs on you!!! HUGE fan!!! You really styled them fabulously. I honestly don’t mind jeggings as long as they’re basically just stretch skinny jeans, they’re really comfy adn versatile. It’s only when they are cotton stretch with a denim print that I feel weird about them.

Thanks so much, Cambria! I’m kind of in love with them and can’t wait for the weather to cool down. These are definitely real jeans, and much tighter than I’ve ever worn. 🙂
I have some skinny jeans from F21 that I would consider denim leggings. They’re thin and stretchy and I can slip them on and off without undoing the zipper or button! I think they’re great for fall and winter, especiallt comfy under knee boots! You look great!
Thank you, Terrie! They are really comfortable, though I do have to get used to how tight they feel on my legs. I am kind of a baby and like really loose, comfortable clothing.
Your whole outfit is sooooo cute. I couldn’t bring myself to type the j word, so I’ll go your way and say you really work the denim leggings! I love the long necklace and your hair too.
Ha ha, thanks so much, Sarah!
