This and That

Walking with Cake: Seahorses

(Male seahorses at Moody Gardens. They are either pregnant or showing off to their mates.)

We got back to our regular routine this week, and now we’re gearing up for the start of school very soon. The boys went to Lego camp and it was a great way to wind down the summer. The news was filled with sadness this week, and I’m grateful that my little guys are still too young to understand it. But I’m not, and I’m reading and listening, so here are the things that caught my attention this week.

A New York Times tribute to Robin Williams.  And PBS remembers him, too.  What an amazing man.

Photographs from Ferguson, Missouri, and a first-person account from the town.  Ferguson could be my town, too, and that is heartbreaking to realize.

One mother’s journey to save her son after a heroin overdose.

“Yes, I am a teacher. No, I am not going to destroy society and your children.”

An Army officer designs gorgeous bags from surplus material and gives jobs to veterans, too.

Lovely fairy portraits.

Real street fashion photography.

Photos from the new season of “Downton Abbey.”

And the history of blue porch ceilings.

Have a wonderful weekend!
