Passion Lilie Spring 2014

Walking with Cake: Passion Lilie Chennai dress

(The Chennai Shift Dress.)

I first shared Passion Lilie’s gorgeous pieces last year, and I’m thrilled to show you their new collection for Spring 2014, which debuts this month.  Passion Lilie is a New Orleans-based fair trade company featuring clothing made by trained artisans, and their work is beautiful.  This season, the pants and dresses are inspired by nature, and each item is perfect for warm weather.

I’m especially fond of the Chennai Dress, shown above, and its silhouette is flattering on all shapes.  The sheath style also makes it great for work when paired with a cardigan.  It’s also fun and feminine, lovely for an evening out.

Walking with Cake: Passion Lilie Marbella and Bahia dresses

(The Marbella Dress and the Bahia Dress.)

These dresses are light and airy, and will make wonderful warm-weather staples.  The Marbella Dress, in a blue block print, is quite classic, while the Bahia Dress is fun and flirty in a traditional Indian print.  Passion Lilie’s fabrics are hand blocked stamped with natural dyes, and the result is beautiful and unique.

Walking with Cake: Passion Lilie Spinnaker Pants

(The Spinnaker Pant in Grey, White, and Mint.)

Wide-leg pants are trending for spring, and these gorgeous, printed Spinnaker Pants are perfect for hot days, when paired with a light tee and strappy sandals.

The Priscilla Shift Dress is another of my favorites, and I love the simple black and white stripes and contrasting fabrics on the front and sides. It also has side pockets and a tie in the back, which makes it a great piece to show off your curves.

And Passion Lilie’s Peacock Dress is an absolute stunner in a gorgeous teal print.  The high-low hem is very flattering and comfortable, too, and this piece is perfect for summer.

I had so much fun previewing Passion Lilie’s new collection, and I hope you’ll check out all of their gorgeous pieces.

This and That

Walking with Cake: Grocery store flowers

(Pretty grocery store flowers.)

Ahh, I forced myself to take a bit of a blogging break (by posting less each week), and it’s already done wonders for my creativity. I guess that’s how things go, and this week, I found myself hanging pictures, thinking about changing things up around the house, reading more, and even trying out a new creative outlet.  I love blogging, but I often fall down a rabbit hole while at the computer, so I’m forcing myself to get away from it all for a few hours each week.  So far, so good!

This weekend, we’ll celebrate my mom’s birthday and watch the Oscars on Sunday. I’m so excited this year, because I’ve actually seen a few of the nominated films!  Here are some things that caught my attention this week.

On older models.

Fascinating photos from an early 20th century French psychiatric hospital.

Portraits of World War I.

Office Supplies–Small People.

You can buy Texas’ largest mansion (yes, it has a bowling alley!).

Wes Anderson’s new film.

Jennifer Lawrence is taking a year-long break.

I’ve fallen hard (really, really hard) for this stunning wallpaper.

A great list of all-American textile makers.

The very tragic story of a beautiful young woman who lay dead, in her own apartment, for three years.

What freedom means.

Have a wonderful weekend!

My Milagros

Walking with Cake: My Milagros

(My small collection of milagros.)

I’ve had this small collection of milagros for years now. Some pieces I picked up here and there, and some were given to me as gifts.  I like to think of them as small reminders of San Antonio, my hometown, and I used to display them in my kitchen.  But then we repainted and redecorated, and the pieces were stored away for safe keeping.

I stumbled upon them recently and decided that they deserve to be seen, so I hung them in a row between the windows in our living room.  They are just out of the boys’ reach, and I can enjoy them every day now.

After our house renovation was finished, I carefully hung a few photos and artwork in very strategic places.  I think I was nervous to put holes in the newly painted walls and I wanted a quieter look, overall.  But it’s been two years and I miss some of the decorations I stored away, so I’m adding them back again.

And collections are meant to be shared and enjoyed, so I think these tiny miracles mark a great starting point.

Do you collect anything?
