What Do I Stand For?

October 1, 2012 · by Catherine · in Home & Life In General

Before the last presidential election, I was very pregnant with my first child, a son, and our country was at war.  I was so tired (I think we were all tired, in different ways) and I wanted something to hope for.

This election, I am the mother of two sons, and things have changed, some for better, some for worse.

But whatever your affiliation, whether you are an elephant or a donkey, or something else altogether, now is the time to have your say.  If you aren’t registered to vote, DO IT NOW, because time is quickly running out.

If you are registered, VOTE, because your voice does matter.

That’s all I will say about politics here (Shocking, I know!), besides this.

What do you stand for?

What Works For Me: Fall Beauty Haul

What Works For Me: Fall Beauty Haul

September 27, 2012 · by Catherine · in (Fair) Fashion & Beauty

Back in July, I showed you how I like to maximize my beauty purchase for my birthday by stocking up and cashing in my Sephora Beauty Insider points.  That month, I also received a Sephora gift card and decided to save it for the next time I really needed (or wanted) a new product.  Well, I ran out of moisturizer last week, so the time finally came to place another order, and this is what I received in the mail on Monday.

I actually ordered the Korres Wild Rose 24-Hour Moisturizing & Brightening Cream and a bottle of Ciaté Paint Pots Nail Polish in Oil Slick.  I first tried the moisturizer as part of a beauty kit in July and it works well with my skin, so I stocked up on a full-size jar for the coming cooler weather.  I also bought my first Ciaté color in July, too, and wanted to try Oil Slick, since it is the brand’s most popular color.

(My actual purchase.)

Along with the two products I ordered, I received Sephora’s regular three sample deal, which included two vials of perfume by Aquolina and Cartier, as well as a primer by Korres.  And one of the weekly promotions was a deluxe sample of Prada’s new Candy Eau de Parfum, so I tried that, too.  Sephora offers many promotions each week, and when I place an order, I make sure to check out all of the Weekly Specials and use the one I like best.

(My freebies.)

The Prada sample came in a precious little box, and I am saving that to add to my collection of lovely cosmetic packages.

(Such a sweet little box!)

This little haul cost me a tiny bit less than $35, which is the actual price of the moisturizer by itself.  And now I’m set until Christmas, when I’ll shop for my loved ones and maybe for myself a little, too.  I love Sephora’s values, and if you know how to use them, you can get lots of bang for your buck!
